Matt Dobbs
I have a number of interests and roles in the veterinary profession, as long as it's new and innovative, then I love to get involved!
As well as the Global Chief Medical Officer for Destination Pet, I am also a Director of AgriEPI, a government sponsored national AgriTech strategy company and lead of Digital Strategy for Stonehaven, a global Animal Health consultancy.
No two hours (let alone days!) of my role are the same. Being based in the UK, but working for a Swiss and US business means that the day starts at 7am and finishes at 2am! You need a forgiving wife and family (and a reliable broadband!) to work like this, but it means there is never a dull moment!
As well as being an RCVS Advanced practitioner in Farm Practice, I also have a qualifying law degree - always helpful to know the legal structure behind any business or opportunity! I was awarded a Nuffield Scholarship and Bullock Award for developing new approaches to Clinical Standards in Farm veterinary practice and the Queens Award for Voluntary Service for services to farm practice. I've worked to develop Clinical Governance Standards in Australia, UK, Saudi Arabia and currently developing Clinical Advisory Standards in the US too!
I am passionate about delivering the highest clinical standards in the Veterinary Care. Delivering the most cost effective veterinary service is completely consistent with delivering high quality veterinary care that is appropriate for the owner and the animal under our care. I believe that we need to ensure the Veterinary Medicine is profitable and engaging, ensuring the sustainability of a Veterinary Lead Profession.
Fun fact: I was the vet to the TV series Big Brother and responsible for removing the chickens from the big brother house on welfare grounds!
