February
"Buy a multipack of 12 bamboo toothbrushes with natural bristles for clipper cleaning. Most of these packs will either have different coloured bristles or the brush handles will be numbered, making it easier to keep on top of monthly brush changes for the whole year. They are also biodegradable and compostable, too.”
March
"Everyone is drinking these fancy tins of coffee these days, and their lids are brilliant to save and recycle as dog food can lids. They protect the food from going off or stinking up the fridge, and they can be cleaned and reused. It's a great tip to advertise to clients, too. You could even have a box at reception to collect them and people can help themselves to use at home.”
April
"If you have a local ice cream parlour, ask if they would be happy to wash and save their used tubs for you. They make a great washable, reusable container that fits easily on most shelves or cupboards. Best of all, they have lids to help keep things extra tidy.”
May
"Swap disposable cleaning wipes for microfiber washable wipes”
June
"If you've got spare towels in the practice, cut them into long strips, sew three strips together at one end and then plait them, sewing the other end together once you've finished. Hide treats and food inside each little section and these make fantastic 'snuffle snakes' for hospitalised dogs, providing enrichment and mental stimulation. They can then be washed and re-used.”
July
"EcoEgg for standard laundry. The product is filled with two types of washing pellets that when added to wash clean effectively. After 70 washes the egg is re-filled with fresh pellets. The washing pellets are biodegradable containing no plastics, bleaches or animal products, making them vegan friendly as well. Using EcoEgg saves around 40 single use plastic detergent bottles a year!”
